Post-Conference Tour | Victoria

The Australian state of Victoria has long been the source of significant Arabian horse activity, home to many of the most influential breeding, training and performance programmes throughout the continent's 230-year horse history. The Garden State of Victoria is also home to many of Australia's top tourist attractions, including the thriving metropolis of Melbourne, consistently ranked atop the list of the world's most livable cities, the Great Ocean Road, one the great global road trips, and the adorable fairy penguins of Phillip Island, whose nightly 'parade' across Summerland Beach is included as a highlight of the Victorian Post-Conference Tour for WAHO attendees.

Scheduled to follow right after Tour HV | Hunter Valley & Australia's Horse Capital, attendees will fly into Melbourne on Monday 11th February to enjoy the many local attractions of this vibrant urban haven. Just a short 80-minute flight from Sydney, Melbourne international airport (MEL) is just 25 km from the central business district. Transport will be arranged to the Rendezvous Melbourne, located in the heart of the city across from the world-famous Flinders Station, for your Monday overnight. Monday will be yours to explore the sights & attractions of Melbourne on your own. Besides the continent's top shopping & entertainment options and some of the most unique & inspiring architecture in the world, Melbourne's many attractions include the vibrant energy of Federation Square, the Melbourne Museum - home to the history of equine legend Pharlap, the Queen Victoria Market - the largest open-air market in the Southern Hemisphere, a stroll back in time throughout a multitude of carefully preserved street arcades,  enjoy the best views of the city aboard the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, jump aboard the iconic Melbourne City Circle Tram (free in the CBD), or take a cruise on the Yarra River.

After overnighting in Melbourne, coach transport will be arranged for a morning departure east of the city to gorgeous Gippsland. An afternoon presentation of horses is scheduled at The Arena at Ripplebrook, featuring high profile Arabians & Arabian Derivatives from many of the most successful breeders & owners from the local area, with an afternoon lunch. A mid-afternoon departure for Phillip Island will put guests up-close-and-personal with the world-famous fairy penguins as they make their daily trek from sea to shore without fail to the delight of international visitors. 'Guided Ranger Tour' provides exclusive access to an informative journey through the penguin colony, enjoying experienced Ranger commentary via your personal headset. Guests will enjoy a premier seat in the wonderfully located beachfront viewing stand, offering superb viewing of the penguins emerging from the water and crossing the beach.

Following an overnight on Phillip Island, the coach will depart for the opposite side of Melbourne, to the enchanting region of the Macedon Ranges & the Central Highlands, where visitors will be treated to two world-class destinations: South Serenity Arabians & Krishlah Arabians. Many of the leading local breeders will share in the presentation of superstar breeding horses and versatile performers. Evening return will be provided to the Melbourne airport for departures to New Zealand the following day for continued post-conference tour enjoyment. Your overnight at Best Western Melbourne Airport provides easy access for all flight departures on Thursday morning, with shuttle service provided to both the domestic & international terminals.

No matter your travel needs, the WAHO 2019 Conference Team will provide Travel Assistance for all flight arrangements to and from Melbourne, as well as any additional accommodation & tourism needs outside of the scope of the tour inclusions.
